Microelectronics, VLSI & Embedded Systems (VLSI & ES)
Major research and development fields such nanoscale FETs, embedded systems, FPGA, low power VLSI, HEMTs, ferroelectric FETs, VLSI circuit design, and quantum simulations have been the focus of the Microelectronics, VLSI & Embedded Systems (VLSI & ES) Group.
In addition to this, particular R&D activities has been carried out in the field of transceiver design. Since 2017, the Group has finished six sponsored research and development projects in these areas, primarily funded by the Defense Department with funding of Rs. Xxx crores, and consulting projects from a variety of industry sectors and R&D organizations with financing of Rs. 8.63 lakhs.
The Group’s objective of fusing technology development with scholarly research has been accomplished. The primary focus of academic research has been on the analysis of various nanoscale devices and circuit elements, as well as the creation of advanced circuit techniques and design know-how that are directly related to the development of low power as well as high power integrated circuits and FPGA/ SoC systems. In terms of technology, the focus has been on fostering indigenous development via collaboration with industry and user agencies, as well as experimental research.
The Group has developed state of art laboratory infrastructure for the design, development and testing of low power design, and FPGA circuits through its engagement in end-oriented significant projects. Synopsys ATK, Cadence VLSI design, Vivado, Agilent ADS, CAD workstations, High Performance Computing cluster are a few of the main facilities.
